Ty Fights Cancer

Talks of Cancer and people getting Cancer has always hit very close to home.  When I was 7 years old I learned how it devastates a family. The way it made my Grandmother ache even as she laid with the hot water bottle on her stomach, suffering from Pancreatic Cancer.  She would be the first of a series of loved ones I’d witness suffer through Cancer of some form.

Ty Louis Campbell is 3 years old.  He’s 3 years old.

When I first learned about Ty Louis Campbell, I wasn’t shocked by the sickness or the sadness, I was shocked by his age. All I could think of was, “he’s getting robbed.” The question of “fair” comes to mind. Is it fair when ANYONE gets Cancer? No. Do we feel just a little worse about it when it strikes a baby or child? YES.

What can you do about it?

Well, scientifically things are out of our hands I suppose. I do believe, however, that the spirited and vivacious tyke we see in this video would radiate with joy if he could feel an ounce of the power and energy that I’ve seen passed around the social good media table. When we’re not busy congratulating ourselves for being named to the latest and greatest top something list or ranting about social media ROI , we are–at the core–a genuinely good group of people who I believe actual care.

Ty Louis Campbell: Our Little Fighter

Ty’s family has created a chronicle of their experience, notes and photos for you to learn more about Ty and his fight.  Ty’s family notes, “On October 4, 2007, Ty Louis Campbell came into this world, and our lives changed forever — just like that. We never knew love like that before. Then, on August 11, 2010, our lives changed forever again. A mass was found at the base of his skull and Ty was later diagnosed with an extra renal rhabdoid tumor; a very rare and aggressive cancer.”

Tweet a note of encouragement for the little fighter and show Ty and his family some social media good. #TyFightsCancer
